The Lichfield cEDH qualifier was a blast! 33 players turned up to sling spells and battle it out for a spot at the European Championships.
Big shoutout to the organizers/store for putting on such a great event. Congrats to James/Night666 for taking it down – they’re excited to represent UK on the big stage!
See below for a few questions with James on his deck, experience and plans for the year!

What’s your history and experience with cEDH?
I started playing cEDH in Fanboy3 around about 4 years ago with a very small play group and then I started playing with random people online on Spelltable and actually made good friends with a couple of people who where from the UK. This then lead me to the UK cEDH Discord server and then the rest is history.
What deck and why did you pick for the qualifiers?
I decided to play Tymna/Kraum (otherwise known as Blue Farm) for the event. The reason I picked this deck is because the deck speaks for itself in terms of power, but also I was really enjoying the way I built the deck. It was performing consistently in every game I played it when I practiced the deck so that made up my mind for playing the deck.
How did your games go?
My record on the 4 rounds of Swiss was 2 wins and 2 draws, which meant I was undefeated all day. The first game I won was because I had both High Fae Trickster and also Valley Floodcaller in play and during a crazy stack I sent a win over the top of two copies of Silence on the stack.
The second game I won because of Professional Facebreaker to make mana and Tymna to draw cards, they just win games if left alone and I just had so much advantage. I just was free to cast a Necropotence and pay 32 life and win the game with a Valley Floodcaller out. And the finals was a whole different level!
Are you planning to go to Munich for the championship?
There is no doubt in my mind that when I signed up for the event that if I won I would 1,000,000 go. And I won, so that’s me going to Munich!
Any advice for people taking part in following qualifiers?
My best advice is play a deck that you are feeling very good about and know your win lines. Also take the time to learn what your opponent’s decks do and how your mulligans can really change the flow of your games.
Are you going to any more qualifiers?
I’m planning on going to the next 3 at least, just because I want to play a different deck but also to see if I could take 2 tournament wins in a short period of time!
